Middle School Week

Come to the libray for a fun week of activities after early dismissal from school. There will be scavenger hunts, games, movies, and prizes.

Pirate's Treasure Hunt- Monday, November 23rd @ 11 AM
Think and talk like a pirates in order to complete this scavenger hunt for prizes.

Survivor Game- Tuesday, November 24th @ 11 AM
Join a team and complete a series of challenges in order to become the ruling tribe.

These programs are open to all middle school aged teens and are free to the public. Just bring your lunch and we'll provide the rest.

Haunted House Success!

Last Friday, Teen and Adult Programming, joined forces to provide the community with a fun way to celebrate Halloween. We had our first Haunted House and it was a success! Thank you Advisory Board, volunteers and staff. Without your cooperation this event would not have been a success.

We were also interviewed by Delaware County Newspaper, so please keep an eye out for the article this Wednesday.

Come to our Haunted House after early dismissal from school. See frightening scenes of Haverford past. This is not for the faint of heart and may not be appropriate for small children. Enter at your own risk!

Teen Read Week

Stop by the Teen Area during Teen Read Week to Read Beyond Reality! Check out materials to change your world, take you somewhere unlike your world, or learn about other cultures. Stop by today and pick up a page turner just for the fun of it!

We also invite you to participate in the week's activities and earn daily prizes. Register during teen programs in the Community Room, Monday through Thursday, from 2:30-4pm. Prizes are on display in the Teen Area and can be redeemed at the Front Desk from Oct. 18-25, 2009 by completing a registration from.

Write and submit an original short story, less than 500 words, on our wiki page at htflteen.wikispaces.com. Be sure to title your work. To redeem prize complete a registration form.

Vote for your favorite teen book and submit to the front desk. Forms can be found in the Teen Area. Also you may attend a Scrapbooking Class and learn about photo journaling. The class will be held in the Community Room at 6:30pm. Register by calling 610-446-3082 ext. 206 or 207.

NEW MOON BOOK CLUB

Calling all Twilight fans – join the New Moon Book Club on Wednesdays at 3pm in the Community Room. This is your opportunity to examine the story of Bella and Edward’s complex relationship, issues between vampires and werewolves, Bella’s heartbreak, and more.

Please bring a copy of your book or borrow one from the library. We’ll move through each book in the series as the book club progress. This book club is open to Teens grades 6-12.

Scrabble Tournament for all Ages

HTFL will be hosting a Scrabble Tournament open to players of all ages. Come show off your skill. The game will be played according to the National Scrabble Association rules and all game boards will be provided.

Hispanic Heritage Month Trivia- Oct.15th















Haverford Township Free Library will host a multiple choice Hispanic Trivia game for prizes for teens, grade 6 and up, on October 15th from 2:30-4pm in the Community Room.

Can you name the above famous Hispanic Americans? Can you answer these sample questions?
  • What famous actress was the first to win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony for her role in West Side Story?

  • What is the largest Latino ethnic group in the US?

Scrapbooking for Teens-Oct. 14th & 21st

Teens (grades 6 and up) and adults are encouraged to scrapbook in the community room at 6:30 pm. Do you have many photos and don’t know how to begin? These workshops are great for beginners! Begin a project or complete an existing one.

Dates: October 14th & October 21st

Time: 6:30-8:30 pm

Location: Community Room

In session one, we will explore how to coordinate different colors and paper patterns. During our second session, we will cover titling and journaling, important features in any scrapbook page.

Please bring 4-6 pictures, alphabet stickers, and embellishments in order to begin a new project. Don’t forget to bring a folder or album to store your completed projects.

We will provide paper, scissors, glue, and stickers, paper cutters, and Cricut and Sizzex machines to use for free.

Rock Band Tournament

Teen Underground is hosting the Rock Band Tournament. Come and show off your musical skills, try it for the first time or learn by watching others. This event if free and open to teens (grade 6 and up).
